Market Drayton Museum & Resource Centre

'The Story of Drayton'

What is it?

It's the story of Market Drayton and the surrounding area, from earliest times to today, told with things, pictures and words. Everything in it is associated with Drayton – either made here or with a special Drayton connection.

It's created by local people for locals and visitors. And it's 'living', because people are always dropping in to tell us things we didn't know.

It's run by volunteers and supported entirely by donations. There's no ongoing cost to the council tax.

Where is it?

53 Shropshire Street – next door but one to the King's Arms pub.

The most convenient car park park is in the town centre (opposite the Festival Drayton Centre in Frogmore Road), walk down to the mini-roundabout, then it's a short way along Shropshire Street – about 200 yards in all.

When is it open?

In 2008 it was open from Easter until the end of October at the following times:

  • Tuesdays, 10.30am to 1pm
  • Wednesdays, 10.30am to 1pm
  • Fridays, 10.30am to 1pm
  • Saturdays, 10.30am to 1pm

The opening times for 2009 have not yet been settled.

Entry is free, but as the Museum is totally run by volunteers without help from 'the rates', we would appreciate a donation.
